Anne Dietrich

Anne Dietrich
Anne Dietrich is a PhD student at the Department of Economics within the group Agricultural and Food Economics. Her PhD work is linked to the Formas funded research project TRANSECO (Transforming the food value chain based on ecologically and economically sustainable crop production). The aim of the interdisciplinary research is to find entry points on how to transform agriculture for more resilient and environmentally friendly crop production based on ecosystem services provided by managed and wild biodiversity.

Research

Anne's PhD project focuses on identifying drivers of the uptake of ecosystem-based practices in the light of economic and ecological efficiencies and trade-offs for Swedish farmers. In addition, the project will focus on food system actors along the entire food value chain to identify preconditions and barriers for a broad transition to ecosystem-based practices. The overall aim is to understand the changes that are neccessary in oder to support a transition to more resource use efficient and biologically diverse production ecosystems.

Cooperation

The research is closely coordinated with the Department of Ecology and involves collaborations with cooporators in civil society, including Abdon Food AB, Axfood, and Axfoundation.

Background

Prior to the PhD training, Anne completed her Master of Science in Social-ecological Resilience for Sustainable Development at the Stockholm resilience centre. She obtained her Bachelor degree at Leuphana University Lüneburg, Germany.

Next to her studies, Anne worked as a research assistent among others for the Kiel Institute for the World Economy and the Department of Economic History and International Relations at Stockholm University.
