Björn Hånell

I have 40 years of experience of research and teaching at SLU. My main research field is boreal forest growth and yield, silviculture and peatland forest management. Since 2000, I hold a position as professor of silviculture at our FEM department. In later years I have devoted most of my time to two international organizations, the International Peatland Society (IPS), where I served as President 2012-2016, and International Union of Forest Research Organizations (IUFRO). In 2014, I was appointed IUFRO Vice President for Divisions. I am a member of the Finnish Academy of Science and Letters.
