Gert Nyberg

Gert Nyberg
I am an associate professor at the Department of Forest Ecology and Management at SLU. My research is on agroforestry, dryland restoration (dry forests and rangelands) and sustainable bioenergy in Africa. I initiated the transdisciplinary research network Triple L (https://www.slu.se/en/collaboration/international/slu-global/triple-l/) and do active research in the research projects therein. I also do restoration research in Miombo woodlands (Tanzania) and on agroforestry for bioenergy (Rwanda). I supervise/co-supervise MSc and PhD students at SLU and in cooperation with partner universities. I am responsible for the MSc-course Sustainable Forestry and Land-use Management in the Tropics at SLU. As the research questions I address are in land use contexts with a lot of people, my research cooperation is quite multidisciplinary with colleagues and partners from different departments within SLU, with other Swedish universities and with partner universities/research organizations in Africa.
