I am working on "Flowering as a key for the successful development of an efficient and rapid breeding of birch (Betula pendula) in Sweden”, as part of Trees For Me's work package 1 focused on tree breeding. The objective of my research is to develop an efficient and rapid breeding of silver birch, focusing on the early flowering aspect, which is a prerequisite for improving productivity of planted birch and it is a crucial knowledge to implement and provide information for successful genomic selection. The literature about this topic is limited and outdated, this is why its so important to address the new questions and challenges.
