Presentation
Projects in collaboration with Norwegian University of Life Sciences and NOFIMA are frequent. In addition, several collaborations in the fields of human health are of great interest. Th Institute of Experimental Medicine in Prague , IKEM, with professor Vera Adamkova and Prof Birgitta Strandvik and her collaborators is and has been very important.
Feeding systems for fish and other farmed animals are studied, especially to investigate new sources of omega-3 fatty acids and protein. Lipid quality of different origin plants and microbes is very important to increase sustainable use of resources world wide. Such an example is a possible culture of oleaginous yest, where a quality similar to palm oil can be produced and avoid the use of palm oil and its negative impact on environment.
Professor Jana Pickova and vice chancellor of JCU assoc prof Tomas Machula. Jana Pickova has received a doctora honoraris at the South Bohemian University of Ceske Budejovice for her large impact and support in building up a department for aquaculture and food quality.
Teaching
