Presentation
I'm a veterinarian and postdoctoral researcher in veterinary epidemiology in the department of clinical sciences. I'm interested in topics related to the epidemiology of infectious diseases, One Health and antimicrobial resistance. I have a special interest in using mathematical modelling to study the spread of diseases.
I defended my PhD thesis in September 2023 about livestock-associated methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (LA-MRSA) control in Swedish pig herds. The thesis combined mathematical modelling on the spread and control of LA-MRSA in a pig herd and bacteriology to study the survival of LA-MRSA on different surface materials. We also studied pig farmers' and veterinarians views on biosecurity in Swedish pig farms.
Research
I am currently involved in a multidisciplinary project that studies the transmission of Campylobacter between cattle and the environment. I am also participating in a chronic wasting disease modelling project.
Background
I have licentiate of veterinary medicine and bachelor of arts (language technology) degrees from the University of Helsinki, Finland. After my veterinary degree, I have worked in Finland as a practicing veterinarian, border veterinarian and researcher at the Finnish Food Safety Authority and as a supervising veterinarian in animal welfare.
