Research
My PhD research project will be focusing on the insect-plant interaction, which is mainly studied on the “investigation of insect host plant searching behaviour in crop mixture”. The overall aim of the project is to investigate host searching behavior of sucking insects in complex crop diversity and examine the potential of manipulation of crop diversity in the development of sustainable plant protection. We will (i) investigate how complex crop diversity effects host search behavior of sucking insects, (ii) insect plant acceptance and performance on host plant grown together non-host plants, (iii) changes induced by volatile interactions between plants of different crops on feeding behaviour of sucking insects, (iv) immigration and performance of aphids in crop mixture interactions in tropical climate.
