Presentation
Hyaluronan (HA) is a glycosaminoglycan with remarkably high viscosity and water-retaining capacity. Many attempts have been made to relate these properties to the conformation of HA, but often with contradictory results. Therefore, my PhD projects are focused on investigating oligo- and polysaccharides of native and modified HA by Nuclear Magnetic Resonance (NMR) spectroscopy and Mass Spectrometry (MS) to determine conformation, hydrogen bonding, hydration, and substitution patterns, which will be linked to the physical-chemical properties of HA.
