About slaughter of fish and the welfare in the water

Sweden is often presented as a leading country in animal welfare, but there is no regulatory framework for how farmed fish should be slaughtered - and the carbon dioxide method that is most used in Sweden today does not work well. Here, sharpening of rules is needed, both Professor Lotta Berg and Miljöpartiets Jenny Lundström noted in the conversation during the week in Almedalen that SLU Future Food arranged on welfare and slaughter of farmed fish. The researchers also have new recommendations for decision makers.
