Vera Franke has been awarded the Otto Hutzinger Student Award

The Otto Hutzinger Student Award is presented for outstanding student presentations at the annual Dioxin Symposium, to acknowledge scientific contributions to the field of halogenated persistent organic pollutants.
Vera Franke, PhD student at the Department of Aquatic Sciences and Assessment, was awarded the Otto Hutzinger Student Award at the Dioxin Symposium in Kyoto, Japan in August. The title of her presentation was Towards more efficient removal of per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFASs) in drinking water treatment: can nanofiltration combined with active carbon or anion exchange do the trick?
