In her opening speech this morning, SLU’s Vice-Chancellor Maria Knutsson Wedel talked about the fact that our food systems are in desperate need to be transformed and adapted to the new realities that we live in:
“It is easy to understand this year’s conference theme Food systems for new realities. We live in a rapidly changing world and there is an increased urgency and knowledge that we need to tackle inequalities, climate change and biodiversity loss" said Maria Knutsson Wedel.
"Agri4D connects the knowledge frontiers of science to policy making and practice. I hope that the conference will spark new collaborations because collaboration is greatly needed. With the discussions here at Agri4D, we all play an important role of insuring that the transformation of food systems is accelerated and driven forward. To address the challenges of food systems in a context of a global world and low-income context, and to progress towards a sustainable and juste food systems; researchers, policy makers and practitioners need to meet and collaborate actively”, the vice-chancellor continued.
