AgriFoSe2030 cookbook wins 1st prize at the Gourmand Awards

Published: 29 June 2022

AgriFoSe2030 cookbook, Les Délices de Mikese (Mikese’s Delicacies), won 1st prize in the Best Innovation Category Awards at the Gourmand Awards 2022 in Umeå. We congratulate the authors and partners on this great award that showcases innovative ways to cook sustainable food by using insects!

This cookbook is part of a wider effort to increase the use of insects in cooking in Africa, where such centuries-old culinary practices have diminished over time. The book also seek to provide practical recipes that respond to the growing worldwide interest in using insects as a source of dietary protein that is less resource intensive than meat.

The Sida supported program AgriFoSe2030 is a very proud sponsor of this book containing recipes of delicious dishes using different species of insects as one of the main ingredients. AgriFoSe2030 aims to translate science into policy and practice to improve food security and nutrition. This recipe book is a good example of that.

Bon appétit!
