Conture (Replacement of carbon dioxide for stunning purposes on pigs)

Last changed: 25 February 2025
Photo of pig with foam around the snout.

The aim of the practical study is to evaluate pigs behavioural and physiological reaction to nitrogen high expansion foam as a stunning method as well as study the stunning process itself.

The study is carried out at the Swedish Livestock Research Centre, Lövsta agriculture research, Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences.
The study runs from August 2018 to December 2019. Information on new results will be continously updated on this site.
