Den globala skogssektorn

Kursen tar sin utgångspunkt i dagsaktuella skogsrelaterade samhällsutmaningar som rör t ex markanvändning, industriproduktion, resursanvändning, demografiska förändringar och klimatförändringar. Genom hela kursen relateras till FN:s mål för hållbar utveckling som togs 2015 . I relation till dessa utmaningar lyfter vi frågor kring ekologisk, social och ekonomisk hållbarhet, skogsindustrins roll och ansvar gentemot sin omvärld. Kursen fokuserar på grundläggande kunskap om skogsresursen och skogsindustrins struktur, utveckling, och roll i samhället – med såväl globala som lokala perspektiv. I kursen arbetar vi i olika regioner med olika förutsättningar avseende skogsresursen, skogsindustri och samhällsstruktur. Genom att erbjuda insikt om de sätt skogssektorn bidrar till samhällets behov och hur sektorn interagerar med andra sektorer i samhället inspireras studenterna att reflektera kring hur olika aktörer i den skogliga sektorn är balanserade och hur sektorns bidrag kan förbättras. Under kursen diskuteras den skogliga sektorns beslutsfattande och kursen reflekterar kring aktörer, intressekonflikter, inflytande och ansvar på global, regional och nationell nivå.


Genomförande

Kursen baseras på lärandeaktiviteter, som exempelvis föreläsningar, seminarier, muntliga presentationer, skriftliga inlämningsuppgifter och studiebesök. Aktiviteterna kan vara både individuella och gruppbaserade.
