Planering, projektkurs - storskaliga ingrepp i landskapet, landskapsanalys och MKB

The course deals with large-scale structure at super-municipal level. Work components comprise advanced landscape analyses, documents for dialogue and consultation according to planning and building regulations and an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA). Some already completed analyses and planning documents will be problematised and some individual proposals for improvements will be made. The students will select, motivate and implement the landscape analyses that are relevant prior to planned changes in the landscape and draw up planning documents for different planning stages and describe the activities of different authorities, parties and actors. The object of the course varies from year to year.

Updated schedule uploaded. On Nov. 2 - the first day of the course, we will meet in Grodden, Agricum at the Alnarp Campus. Please notify me if you have a cold or any other reason not joining due to Covid 19, and I will make sure that you can join via Zoom. Andrew Butler will be participating from England, thus the Zoom presentation on ELC, which we will look at together from Grodden.

EXTRA - please note, if having problems with finding cheap accommodation in Stockholm, train connections etc., that the important time to consider in Stockholm Nov. 8 is when the bus leaves at 11:00. It is not obligatory to see the exhibition and listen to the presentations before the bus leaves.

Very welcome to this year's Large Scale course!

A preliminary schedule will soon be uploaded. We are currently working with all the details and there will most probably be modified schedules uploaded every week. One reason for this being that we have an interesting new theme this year – energy landscapes – which makes us have to do more detailed planning and changes than usual. Another reason being that Covid has not entirely left us alone this year either, and we had to change excursion plans etc. However, the program will be just as full of interesting objects to see as originally planned, and the schedule soon uploaded will be sufficient enough for you to plan your stay in Skåne, travels home for Christmas etc. Periods of activity on campus will be interwoven with periods where you can work from a distance.

This year we are working in close partnership with the consultancy agency and think tank Lablab, based in Stockholm. Please see their homepage for further information about projects they are involved in: Lablab

The first three weeks of the course will be dedicated to group work and the second of these there will be an excursion to the region of Dalarna, north-west of Stockholm. Students will pay travel expenses themselves for going to and from Stockholm (please check for cheap train tickets etc. as soon as possible!), but there will otherwise not be many additional costs in the course. On Monday morning November 8 we will start by meeting Lablab and others at an exhibition at Färgfabriken in Stockholm, and by lunch time approximately we will go by rented bus towards Dalarna and be back by the evening of November 10. The rest of this week and half of the week afterwards will be fully digital, so there is no need to rush back to Skåne/Alnarp Take your chance to see also the capital of Sweden!

The theme “energy landscapes”, and also the concept of “landscape literacy”, will be discussed from many perspectives in the course, from more theoretical issues down to very concrete issues of how to analyze landscape and landscape impact regarding large scale projects, mitigation and compensation measures as well as possible design strategies for more sustainable futures. Even though special attention will be given towards the green energy transition and how to avoid mistakes of the past and traditional energy landscapes, there will also be other issues discussed, such as e.g. infrastructure projects and large scale tourism. Students' individual project, from week 4 and onwards, can be dedicated to any kind of large scale project of your own interest and does not have to be related to energy landscapes.

We look forward to this course very much from our side and wish you very welcome!
