Naturresursernas organisering och samhällsstyrning
This course departs from the insight that natural resource governance is as much about managing people as it is about managing nature. The course provides students with tools for understanding different ways in which control and access over natural resources are collectively organized and governed, and the different social, economic and ecological conditions that underpins various forms of environmental dilemmas. The course deals with the inter-linkages between natural resource management and rural change from a cross-disciplinarily perspective. Through an exploration of different concepts and perspectives from social theory and political ecology the course critically analyses different natural resource dilemmas from different contrasting contexts at different scales.
The course covers relevant theoretical concepts and approaches concerning the governance of natural resources and enables students to reflect and use these in class discussions and individual and/or group exercises. The development of the student’s generic competence and capabilities constitute an important part of the course and the course consists of a mixture of lectures, individual and/or group works, which are presented and discussed during seminars.

Efter avslutad kurs ska studenten kunna:
Skilja mellan olika teoretiska förhållningssätt till förståelsen av hållbarhetsdilemman och de underliggande antaganden som de bygger på.
Applicera begrepp och teorier från politisk ekologi och andra samhällsvetenskapligt relaterade områden för att förstå olika miljödilemman.
Bedöma hur olika politikområden och institutioner påverkar resursstyrning i olika sammanhang och skalor.
Skilja mellan olika hållbarhetsdiskurser och sätta detta i relation till förståelsen av olika naturresursdilemman
Innehåll
Kursen behandlar relevanta teoretiska begrepp och metoder för naturresursernas förvaltning som gör det möjligt för studenterna att reflektera och använda dessa i gruppdiskussioner och individuella gruppövningar. Övningarna tas från exempel från fallstudier som kommer från olika kontrasterande sammanhang. Utvecklingen av studentens generiska kompetens och förmågor utgör en viktig del av kursen och kursen består av en blandning av föreläsningar, individuella övningar och grupparbeten som presenteras och diskuteras under seminarier.
Kursen utgår från insikten att naturresursförvaltning handlar lika mycket om att hantera människor som det handlar om att förvalta naturen. Kursen ger studenterna verktyg för att förstå olika sätt på vilket kontroll och tillgång över naturresurserna organiseras och förvaltas samt de olika sociala, ekonomiska och ekologiska förhållandena som ligger till grund för olika former av miljödillemman.
Kursen behandlar sambanden mellan naturresursförvaltning och landsbygdsutveckling ur ett tvärvetenskapligt perspektiv. Genom en utforskning av olika begrepp och perspektiv från samhällsvetenskaplig teori och politisk ekologi analyserar kursen kritiskt olika teoretiska perspektiv.

Godkänd hemtentamen, godkänt deltagande i obligatoriska seminarier och godkända skriftliga uppgifter.
- Examinatorn har, om det finns skäl och är möjligt, rätt att ge en kompletteringsuppgift till den student som inte blivit godkänd på en examination.
- Om studenten har ett beslut från SLU om riktat pedagogiskt stöd på grund av funktionsnedsättning, kan examinatorn ge ett anpassat prov eller låta studenten genomföra provet på ett alternativt sätt.
- Om denna kursplan läggs ned, ska SLU besluta om övergångsbestämmelser för examination av studenter, som antagits enligt denna kursplan och ännu inte blivit godkända.
