Sweden’s application system enables you to apply for courses and programmes at different universities using just one application.

There are several steps in the application process.

1. Find your programme

Visit the SLU website to explore our Master’s programmes or search for subjects based on your areas of interest. Each programme page contains a link to the programme application. You can also search for programmes on universityadmissions.se and apply directly.

2. Check entry requirements and deadlines

To be admitted to a programme at SLU, you need to fulfil certain general and specific entry requirements. Please visit each programme page to read the specific requirements.

General admission requirements can be found on universityadmissions.se.

3. Apply on universityadmissions.se

All applications are submitted through a central system on universityadmissions.se. If you would like to apply for a specific SLU programme, you can follow the link on the programme page.

Your application must include:

  • the online application form;
  • documentation you meet the general entry requirements;
  • proof of English proficiency
  • documentation that you fulfil any specific entry requirements for the programme;
  • the relevant supporting documents;
  • proof of citizenship.

Citizens from outside the EU, EEA or Switzerland must pay an application fee of SEK 900.

Visit http://universityadmissions.se for more information about the application process.

4. Wait for your admission decision

Each university assesses applications based on the criteria they have set, and all are taken into consideration. The outcome of your application will be published on universityadmissions.se under ‘Notification of selection results’.

You will either be offered a place, added to a reserve (waiting) list, or have your application deleted. Please note that you do not need to reply to your offer.

Citizens from outside the EU, EEA or Switzerland will then need to pay their first tuition fee instalment.

5. Apply for a residence permit

If you are a non-EU/EEA citizen, you will need to apply for a residence permit. Please note that the application process may be long, so apply for your permit as soon as you have received your notification of selection results.

6. Welcome to Sweden

You can read more about living and studying in Sweden on the Study in Sweden website. Finding accommodation in some towns and cities may be difficult, read more on the SLU accommodation page.
